A NEW TIME IN AMERICA (11-11-08)

Obama wins, their party leadership loses and they don't even know it.

So, here we are. The American electorate has chosen Barack Obama as our next president of the United States of America. Many have called this a "historic" election, and to that I agree. But what election is not historic, and in a country that ignores history and it's lessons, what does "historic" actually amount to. As a conservative American, I am obviously disappointed in the outcome and the direction our country will be taken by this socialist thinker. But as a plain American, I am proud to see an African American finally become president. Proud, because it shows proof that this is truly a great country where a racial minority can be elected, not despite his race, but because of it. Now, I could go on about how the president should be elected for other reasons, but this is not where this blog entry is going. The election of Barack Obama is a signal to the country, and to the world, that real equality does exist in this country. More than an African American minority, Barack is of mixed race and could be described as a super minority. To some, he's black. And to others, he's not black enough. Barack, who had to overcome racial prejudice from both sides, was not only able to succeed in reaching the most powerful position on the planet . He succeeded where know one, other than a white male, has been able to in all of human existence. More than just an issue of race, Barack, much like former President Clinton and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, Barack did not come from money either. President elect Obama has become an inspiration to all who have, in the past, used race and social standing as an excuse not to strive for greatness. {You have no idea just how hard those niceties were to write.} While the election of this socialist democrat does indicate further economic disaster and an increase in both the governments size and it's control over the individual citizen, I am somewhat pleased with the change it represents within the democratic party. Over the years the party has been under the control of the, so called, "intellectual elite". Barack, with his gift for gab, and the ill timed economic downturn literally handing him the election on a silver platter, is now the leader of the party. This was not in the plan of the democratic leadership. He was said to be the future of the party and, in their mind, was only in the election to inspire voter turnout for the presumed general election candidate, Hillary Clinton. The thinking of the democratic party leadership was, with his overwhelming inexperience, he would run, generate some enthusiasm, and endorse the obvious nominee. He would have been rewarded with the number two position, a cabinet post or at least a job within the administration. But until he earned his stripes, he would be a puppet of the party leadership and the more experienced members of his party. Bottom line, his run in the primary was an introduction to the American people. An introduction shrewdly calculated by the "intellectual elite" leadership to be a certain failure. By running, and winning, Barack Obama has taken control of his party for the majority of the next decade. In that time, he should be able to change the party into the party it always should have been. Yes, politically, it will still be the liberal pile of dung it's always been. But the "intellectual elite", and it's false token support of minorities, will hopefully, be replaced with a true color blind leadership, recruiting quality members who posses the ability to think instead of just taking orders. Because of the hold democrats, undeservedly, have on the minority population, republicans have had to show administrations and cabinets of diversity in an attempt to win over some minority support. The republican party has minority members, although too few in number, who posses the power of independent thought. These members are of equal standing in the party because they are of equal education and intellect. The democratic party has taken advantage of the ignorance of it's minority members and taken the minority vote for granted for decades. They recruit members of pretty low intellect, who live in a largely minority districts. They get them elected as empty suits only to vote the party line as instructed and to keep the populous convinced the democratic party is the party of the black. These members have their power limited by the party, and by their own ignorance, and they would be dumped for any disloyalty to the leadership. Some have pretty powerful positions in congress. But it's painfully obvious that these members are neither "intellectual" or "elite", and they will never become part of the party leadership. Until Barack, very few democratic minorities have had the power of intelligent, individual thought. He would have been stuck playing their game too, had it not been for his ability to show himself as an intelligent candidate worthy of real consideration for the top jobs of both president and party leader. In comparison, the republican party, maybe for selfish reasons, has pushed it's best and brightest minority members into upper level positions based on their ability, rather than skin color. We can only hope that the democatic party, under Barack Obamas leadership, strives to be more like the party many have wrongly believed it was. More like the party they have been voting against all these many years. A party above race who will first search out quality candidates who posses more than the ability to vote yeah or nay as directed.
